Trauma Team Education

The path to trauma program administration is often through the clinical ladder which rarely prepares the manager for the tasks of financing and operating a trauma center. To assure managers are successful, whatever their background, TCAA provides the following annually:

  • Trauma University

If you don’t speak the language of finance and business planning, you are not enjoying the empowerment you deserve. The TCAA Finance & Business Course includes:

  • Basic & Advanced tracts
  • Reality-based trauma program cases
  • Essential steps in business planning
  • Strategies for presenting information to executive leadership
  • How to develop a distinctive business case

The medical leadership skills needed in today's trauma centers are best gained by sharing the experiences of others. This course is targeted to current and aspiring trauma medical directors who want to learn how to improve operations in their trauma center and exert control over their trauma surgical practices. The Faculty will deliver core principles for the leadership and business skills needed to succeed in our challenging healthcare climate. Participants will enjoy a collaborative and case-based learning environment. Each participant will leave with readily employable tactics to improve efficiency, fiscal performance and clinical management in their program. Practical and immediately usable solutions to common problems experienced by all directors of Level I, II, III and IV trauma centers will be the outcome of this course. The course is held during the Annual Trauma Conference.

In response to enthusiastic demand and to supplement the existing and highly successful Trauma Medical Director Course, the Trauma Center Association of America (TCAA) has launched the TCAA Advanced Medical Director course. Led by an experienced and dedicated faculty, the course curriculum will include selected areas of hospital and professional finances, performance improvement, team management and leadership. The teaching style will emphasize selected readings, case discussions and adequate time for detailed discussion of all topics. Participants will be invited to submit case studies for group analysis and discussion. The course is held during the Annual Trauma Conference. Completion of the existing TCAA Medical Director course is a prerequisite.

TCAA's Annual Conference offers hospital and trauma system administrative professionals a one stop educational conference. Our Annual Conference comprehensively covers trauma operations including, but not limited to: system development, finance, reimbursement, advocacy, performance improvement and many facets of leadership development. The goal of TCAA's conference is to prepare participants to address the issues confronting trauma centers and trauma systems, now and in the future.

  • Members of TCAA receive recordings of the Trauma Center Association of America's Annual Conference.
  • Mark your calendars for the TCAA Annual Conference on April 29 - May 4, 2018 at the Hotel Monteleone in New Orleans, LA.
